About Us

Picture
We are friends who grew up together in a small town on California’s Central Coast… Santa Maria/Orcutt, which is right on the border of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. The sheer number of shared articles of clothing, sleeping quarters, beach trips, school dances, road trips, adventures (both sober and not!), and meaningful moments just makes our collective heads spin. There is just something about hometown friends.. They get you, they speak your language and know your lingo, they knew you when.

Now, between us we have more than 100 years of marriage, four current husbands and one ex-husband, countless animals, 12 kids (5, 4, 2, 1), and a first grandchild on the way. We have ended up in such different places in life, but put us all on the phone together and it is like no time has passed. All someone has to do is utter a line from a John Hughes film, and we are 16 again. And, for a couple of hours a month, being 16 again is totally awesome.

Where did our name come from? Well, when we were in high school Bill Cosby's "Himself" hit the scene. We watched this over and over, and so much of it became our lingo… “Dad is great, give us the chocolate cake,“ “And tired always follows sick” and “Grandmommy just love you to death.” That last one just stuck… we said “love you to death” when we left or hung up the phone and we still do! And, of course, it was easy to turn into text speak... LYTD.
